I'm having trouble with bluegill and crappies hitting short on my jigs and flies. They act like they really don't want it. Tried several colors, just wondering what you guys do when this happens. Flies were #14 and jigs were 1/16 with size #6 hooks.

I've noticed a lot of fly and jig tyers are topping their ties off with the UV glue and hitting them with the UV lights. This is suppose to help make the fly or jig last longer to catch more fish, but I wonder if the "texture" makes a difference to the fish? Seeing it used on a lot of nymph...

For those of you who pour your own jigs, Jacobs just added four new molds to his jig mold lineup. 1/24, 1/16, 1/8  all in pill mold with a crane swivel. The fourth one is a round head in 1/24 with the underspin. Looks like a winner to me! Those are the only ones on the market I know of. Check...

I see under "new items" on the Barlow's site they now sell powder paint. $23.95 per pound. That figures out to $1.50 a ounce! That's a good price, wonder who they get their powder from?

Saw this tutorial on youtube. "Tying a Pro Gammaus Full Tutorial" by Pro Sportfisher. Found the material for sale on Feather-craft. Bet this could be done on a beadhead or even a jighead. So many new items for fly tying out there. It's hard to keep up!

Didn't want to hijack a thread so I started a new one. 1) What gague and type of wire? 2) How are you tying it in? (folding it back over itself at tie in point?) 3). Heavier wire for bigger hooks? 4) Best way to attach stinger hook?

Just got the summer issue of "Fly Tyer" magazine. Good article on using dust-mop heads to tie flies and jigs by Al and Gretchen Betty. They look very good, easy tie and catch a lot of fish according to the authors. Something new to look into.

I like to keep my tails short. About 1/2 inch past the hook bend. I feel I get less "short" hits that way. I noticed most guys use longer tails. (Some up to 2-2 1/2 inches pass the hook bend) Just wondering what you guys think about this subject? Longer tails; more short hits? Or does it depend...

Most fly tying thread is sized in denier or 3/0 to 12/0. But regular sewing thread has no size on it? I've found some great looking colors at JoAnn fabric, but haven't been able to tell what size the thread is. I know it would hold up in the water, since it would be covered with Sally Henson...

I see this in the 2015 Janns Netcraft catalog. It said fill a container with enough water to cover the plug. Put two or three colors on the water and mix. Slowly pull the plug out and it would give it a marbling effect. Let the plug dry and top coat with Seal-Coat. It's a little pricey, $7.99...

Been tying up some bass jigs with no tail, chenille body, silicone collar. I then use a Uncle Josh pork frog on the back of the jig. Makes a great spring time jig. Just wondering if anyone else does this?

Just saw a video on FishTV of guys rip jigging bucktail jigs for walleye in weeds. They weren't using any trailers on the jig, but I'm wondering what would be the best jighead? Their jigs looked a little like the teardrop head. Anyone have a idea what jighead and size would work best?

Sometimes Inline spinners will twist the line. I try to always put a swivel up the line about a foot to try to stop this. Ive also heard if ,you bend the line tie loop up this will stop the lure from spinning, but it will also weaken the wire. Anyone have any comments on what you do?
