Just got the summer issue of "Fly Tyer" magazine. Good article on using dust-mop heads to tie flies and jigs by Al and Gretchen Betty. They look very good, easy tie and catch a lot of fish according to the authors. Something new to look into.

One of the things I found interesting in the article was using Scotch Guard to spray the pieces clipped from a dust mop sleve to make them waterproof. So this would give you a fly that floats. On a jig head the piece would tend to float up, when you pull the jig it would pull down in a streamline position.

Those are nice looking jigs and flies. I have used some material close to the dust mop (car washing sponge covered). I like working with different materials and they have come up with some ways of using the material a little different than I used it. I do like the one that is super glued to the bottom side of the hook with the zonker tied to the top of the hook, a nice looking fly (Dusty Zonker).
