    griffen vises????

Anyone know the differences between a griffen Montana mongoose and a griffen blackfoot mongoose? looking for pros and cons on the two. I can get a Montana for $179 or blackfoot for $100 (both new). I am willing to pay the extra $79 but would like to know if there is much difference in the...

    cleancast fluxing compound

Who all has tried the cleancast fluxing compound. I will never flux without it again! Decided to give it a try and it is AWESOME! No smoke, no fire, no smell, no more drips, I just plain love the stuff. The one pound container will last forever.....it only calls for 1/8 teaspoon of the powder...

It is still early for steelhead but I managed to get my first of the season today. I also caught a couple silvers and a dolly varden. The dolly went back unharmed.

That time of the year again.

Well it is that time of the year again when the coho(silvers)salmon start leaving the salt and heading for the rivers. Fished the Stillaguamish river this morning and caught my first river coho of the season. Has been real tough(little early still)so far, not a lot of fish in the river yet. Here...

Not caught on a jig but thought I would share

So today is opening day for lingcod here in the pacific northwest, so I had to head out this morning and get some "fish and chips" for tonight. I didn't catch it on a jig but did catch the sand dab(flounder/sole/flatfish) that I used for live bait. The sand dab was about 8 inches long. We have a...

I am curious what blade everyone prefers on pony/horse head jigs? Colorado, willow, indiana, ect. How about color? What size blade goes with what size head??? And while I am at it, how about the split ring size? Atleast I do know that the crane swivel is a size 12.

different degree angle on jig hooks??

I was given a jig by a fishing partner that wants me to duplicate the jig for king salmon next season. The one he gave me is a 60 degree bend at the eye. I usually always use the standard 90 degreee. Both jigs I refer too are plain round head jigs no collar. My question is, again the jig in...

First ties from the first pours

So after getting those jigs painted the other day, I was able to tie up a few of my tried and true(this jig has caught a lot of steelhead this year for me) The chenille on it is the chenille I was so desperate to find when the local tackle store I buy it at, went out of bussiness before I could...

    keeping them eyes clean

So I searched the website for any great ideas out there on how to keep the eyes clean when powder painting. Sounds like most just like to hold the jig by the eye preventing much of the powder from getting in the eye. I have an idea I am going to try and if it works the way I hope it will I will...

    first pour

So I did my first pour and really like the way that the bottom pour pot works. I did not smoke my mold because I had recently read that it was not needed, so I thought I would give it a try without and the jigs came right out with no problem at all. I will get some painted and tyed and post more...
