    First Try With Hackle

I was very impressed with RonDon's pic with the hackle body so I PM'd him with questions and watched a few You-Tube videos. Here's my first attempt, on one of RonDon's fish heads I might add. I used a crow feather on the first one and neck hackle on the second.

    Which Do You Like Best?

Do you guys like a large of small profile in your jigs. I like using the zonker, but it may make the jig too large for crappie. I don't know, just would like your opinions. I tyed some with the zonker and cross-cut and some with just two-toned cross-cut.

    Few Wabbits

Just got another package from CAT. Had to show off the Ruby Slipper and June Bug powder paint. Also got some barred zonker. This is my first jig to use cross-cut zonker for the body.

    Trolling Crankbaits 7-7-10

My son-in-law and I tried the crappie at Okatibbee Res. in east-central MS this morning. We got on the water at 5:15 and didn't do much until the sun came out around 7:30. We trolled 6 poles around 50 ft. back at 1.5 mph.. Chartreuse/Black back seemed to be the best color. The trolling motor...

    Attica Inspirred

The jigs I recieved from the jigswap were all great. The one made by AtticaFish inspirred me to get to practicing. These are 1/8 oz with bucktail, zonker, and marabou. I love working with the zonker and I can see not that it's an art to get it to look right.

    Went Crankin This Morning

A couple of friends and I went crankbait trolling this morning at Okatibbee Res.. We launched my boat at 5am and followed the main creek channel with the GPS at around 1.5 mph. Steve and I fished 2 poles each out of the front and Wayne fished 2 out the back. We caught 26 crappie and 1 cat. No...

    New Fluid Bed

I just finished my home made fluid bed and it's working fine. I saw that Stump Hunter just finished his also. Mine has got 4 fluid beds on it so I won't have to change cups as much. I just tried out two of them, one with chartreuce and the other with white and they work good. I found out that...

    More Gill Bugs

I got some colored foam sheets from Hobby Lobby and cut little strips and super glued them together. Then I trimmed them with scissors and made some bugs. Gonna have to try them with my fly rod in my neighbor's pond.

    Powder Paint Question

I hope some of you could help me with this. I got some "Candy Yellow", and "Super Glow Orange" paint and when I paint jigs, the lead color bleeds through. I've tried dipping in white PP first, then in the other color but the white bleeds through when I cure them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Scott

    First Time Pulling Cranks

My son in law and I went this morning at Okatibbee Res.. We got on the water at 5:15 am and tried jigs first with no luck. I had gotten some Wally Marshall crankbaits at BPS so we decided to give them a try. We fished 4 rods about 75 ft behind the boat at 1.5 mph. We followed the main creek...

    Southern Star Fish Fry

I don't know if any of you have tried this or not, but it's the best fish fry seasoning I have ever tasted. I used it around 20 yrs. ago but they went out of buisiness. I happened to find an old empty package and tried the phone number. I found out they were back in buisiness using the original...

    Flock Of Chickens

I powder painted some of the "tin" jig heads I got from sac-a-lait to see how they would work. I like them cause you have a larger head for more color without the extra wieght. 1/4 oz mold but they wiegh less than 1/8 oz. Chartreuse powder paint Chartreuse marabou Fl. pink hackle Fl. pink ultra...

    Jighead Holder For Curing

A fellow on C.com called PaprHead came up with a great idea for a holder to cure powder paint jigheads. It holds them head-up so that if you had used a little too much paint, it won't give your jig that swollen nose look. He used a 12 inch length of 5/16 threaded rod. He ran it through a plate...

    Hot Jig For The Day

I finally went crappie fishing this morning with a couple of friends and it seemed like one jig stood out over all the others. It probably got three times the strikes as anything else. Needless to say, after I cleaned 18 crappie and put the boat up, I went to tying. LOL Got plenty of ammo now...
