My son in law and I went this morning at Okatibbee Res.. We got on the water at 5:15 am and tried jigs first with no luck. I had gotten some Wally Marshall crankbaits at BPS so we decided to give them a try. We fished 4 rods about 75 ft behind the boat at 1.5 mph. We followed the main creek channel using the GPS and finally got 10 good keepers. I'll have to practice a little more on the line length and boat speed but we enjoyed it. I guess I'll have to start tying crankbaits now. LOL We fished until around 10:00 and it just got too hot.

Nice catch, What kind of plug did you use?

I was using the Wally Marshall Crappie Cranks from BPS. I had bought some a couple of months ago and I got the deep running ones. I guess I've got to start a new tackle box now with those and the 300 series Bandit crankbaits. We couldn't catch them any other way but it seemed like this was the ticket.

Great Scott what a catch! I've not tried the crankbait crappie technique much. Looks like you've got it down. Might have to revisit it someday. Love the railroad cooler too. I have one just like it with a lime green lid. Doubles as a catfishing stool!

Ha! I guess I'm busted on the railroad cooler. One of the fringe benefits of a railroad career! :D I'm gonna try it again Fri. morning, thinking about tying one of those wobble heads as a trailer. I'll let you know.

Good catch Scott. You got the bug now and there is no turning back! Those are nice whites you got. If you were 75' out your cranks were running at 14' deep. Good depth to start Friday morning. I pulled yesterday morning but never found any crappie that were willing to be fried only one bass and he was turned loose. Look forward to your report.
