First Tuna Trip on the season

Took the New Lo Ann out of Point Loma in San Diego for a 1.5 day trip. Tore my ankle up on the ladder down to the bunks about 1 hour into the trip. Still managed to fished all the next day. Water was a bit rough and fishing was on and off all day. Can't wait to get back out.

    LedHed

All, LedHed has asked that I share the link below. His mother passed away on June 6th. You learn a lot about someone when you spend time fishing together. One if the things I learned about LH is that his mother was very special. He is in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully he finds away to...

    Going fishing

So family life has managed to keep me away from the vise and the lake, but I am going fishing with some good friends + my 6 year old this morning. Last night I felt like a crack addict falling off the wagon as I put new line on my poles. Like a kid waiting for Santa unable to fall asleep.

    LP 2/2/13

Fish Lake Perris with Mealworm, LedHed and Tim. Water was in the high 40's, lake level dropped in the last few weeks, and the inlet running fill blast in the morning. We fished mostly deep water (50-60 feet), but hit a few other spots while the inlet was running. Total for the day was 25 BG, one...

    Misc ties

My jig box was looking a bit bare, so I convinced the family to let me have a few nights to tie this week. Here is what I came up with.

    Clear Coat Advice

Looking for some advice on a quick dry finish for jigs. Most of my jigs are thread wrapped hard bodies. My usual coating is Wet and Wild clear, but with 3 coats they smell like my wifes manicure box for a few days. I usually try to finish all my ties by Wed. for a Saturday trip to avoid...

LP 2/29/12 attacked by the Kitties

Fished Lake Perris with Mealworm, Tim, Nikki, and little man Caden. As usual, we targeted the Big Bluegill.....but the cats got in the way. Not a bad problem to have. We fished 30-40 feet of water with jigs and crickets on UL tackle and 2 pound line. We landed lots of cats between 7-10 pounds...

    G Loomis S720

When I heard that G. Loomis was terminating the custom blank program, I picked up a S720, 6', 1 piece, UL, 1-4# for my own use. It sat lonely in my garage for some time....well, I finally decided to wrap it. Since this is the only G Loomis blank I will get to wrap for myself, I wanted it to...

    LP 08/18/2012

Went fishing with meal worm and Tim (non-JC.C member) The water was 78-80 degrees and the air was hot at 99 degrees. We fished tire reefs and some shallow water with not much success, so we headed to mealworms new favorite deep water hole. We fishing what is known at the Canyon in 40-58 ft of...

    LP 07/27/12

I met up with Mealworn and Tim (non member) for a day of fishing, at famous Lake Perris. After fishing a few spots, mealworm put us on a nice pile of fish in deep water. Most fish were caught in 40'-50' of water. Mealworm was working them on the bottom, I was working them a little higher at...
