Does anybody here fish lake Eufaula in Oklahoma? I'm thinking about a dock fishing trip down that way this winter, and I am looking for any info I can get. Is it worth the trip? Zac

    Victims of the hackle

With all the wind we had today, duck hunting the reservoir was out of the question. So I loaded up my dock fishing stuff and headed out. Went fishless for almost 4 hours! Then the fish moved in some, and I ended up with these... All caught on 1/32oz pink head, shimmering blue chenille body...

    New goodies

Had to try out some of my new stuff. Crazy's "pro wedge" head 1/16oz, hackle tails (one has some gadwall flank). Firetiger and silkworm chenilles. Let me know what ya think.... Good and bad! I think the firetigers are gonna smoke 'em.

Our fearless leader is starting to rub off...

I was fishing a small state fishing lake yesterday, and to escape the wind I tried something new. I went down to the spillway and fished the creek coming out of the lake. Surprisingly, my first three fish were a couple nice (for this place) bluegills and crappie... Then this happened...

    Crazy Angler chenilles

I am going to be getting an order placed tonight from Crazy Angler and figured I'd pose this question. What are your favorte chenille colors from Crazy? I am looking for a couple new ones to try! Zac

    white

Anybody else have bad luck with white tying materials? Seems like it's always the white marabou, hackle, and rabbit that is thin and much poorer quality than other colors. The dyed colors are "dyed over white", so you'd think there would be no discrepancy.

    I am sold!

I got to fish some hackle tail 1/32oz jigs I tied for the first time today. Wow! I love how they look and how they fish! And the crappie liked 'em too. 30 keepers between 3 of us!

    Chunky little gill

Well, I was out over the brushpile here the other night and this guy thumped my jig. I was impressed how deep-bodied it was!

    Evening's work

Tied up about half of these tonight, got some head cement on all of 'em, now they're drying! After tying with it more, I really like the looks of kip.

    Can't beat it!

Just had the parents and grandparents over this afternoon for lunch.... Fresh dove with green pepper wrapped in bacon and grilled, fresh crappie fillets, tater salad, and chips. We had a great time!

Should I be impressed or disappointed?

I've tied two dozen jigs tonight, and have four dozen heads painted and in the oven right now curing. Those will most likely all be tied up by lunchtime tomorrow. Should I be impressed with myself for being so productive, or depressed for having no social life on a friday night and saturday...

    Tailing material question

I vertical jig a large percentage of the time, and also fish a jig under a bobber quite a bit. What would you recommend for a tailing material for slow presentations like this?

    Crappie Pro heads

I have a friend who prostaffs for Crappie Pro. He gave me some of their 1/4-oz "Tail Light" heads in a couple different colors and told me to go nuts. He wanted to see what I could do with 'em. Their paint job is fantastic! Always a couple colors, plus glitter. Anyhow, here's the results. I'll...

    soft hackle technique

I was looking on YouTube tonight for a video that showed a fairly simple fly where the guy uses clear, easy to see, GOOD techniques. Here's one I found: Watch how he prepares and ties with the feather... That's the key! He is tying small stuff with starling in the video, but the technique is...

    How about another challenge?

Hey guys, we caught a few red shiners in the cast net last night when we were trying to catch some shad. How would you imitate something like this that has red fins? I've been pondering this today and have a couple ideas, but nothing that sounds too great just yet. Let's see what you've got!

if you don't hear from me...

I just got an order for 400 jigs... 1/32 to 1/4 oz I'll be a painting and tying fool after I get a jig order in to Ron Don and materials order from Feather Craft and Crazy Angler! This is by FAR the biggest request I've ever gotten. Always a dozen here, two dozen there. Should be kinda fun! Zac

    Barbless?

Do any of you guys mash the barbs down on jigs? Reason I ask is that on my flies I use specifically for trout and bluegills, I've gotten into the habit of making my them barbless for ease of removal more than anything. Gills have such small mouths, trying to wrestle a fly out of their mouth is...
