    Powder paint tungsten flippin' weights?

One of my projects I've been working off-and-on is a custom inline spinner, and using tungsten flippin' weights instead of the usual brass beads.  Denser, better casting range, etc.  Originally I was wanting something heavy enough to throw with my surf rod back in OK, but now that I'm up here in...

    A question for the masters

I'm trying to get all set up for ice fishing.  That way it looks right now, I probably won't make it out this season.  But.... Everybody swears by tungsten ice jigs.  Ok, fine.  However, if I go to a bait shop, those things are anywhere from $2.50 - $5.00 EACH!  There are a few guys on FB that...

    Baitfish Jigs

Remember those jigs I painted a couple days ago?  Got around to tying them up.  1/8 pillhead.  I like to put these on a jig spinner frame.  DEADLY on Smallmouth Bass in streams.  I should start throwing these around in some of the lakes as well.

    Green PT Nymphs

Last year I picked up a dyed-green PT clump.  It's about time I did something with it.  Tied up some PT nymphs, size 16.

    Did some more painting today

Decided I need to tie up some of the Baitfish pattern that was killing the Smallies last year. Also decided to do a copycat job on some jigs that someone on a FB is using for Steelhead.  1/32 tube jigs, available from Wally World.

    Guide's Choice Hare's Ear

Got around to tying some Guide's Choice Hare's Ear nymphs. Used Fl. Fire Orange thread, which creates a nice hotspot when you whip finish.

    Complex Twist Bugger

Complex Twist Bugger, tied on a Mustad 74-9672 size 4. It's hard to make out in the pic. Basic Bugger, but the body is Olive Estaz, Olive hackle flash, and Olive Schlappen all twisted together, then wrapped forward to the cone. A little dubbing (light olive Ice Dub here) wrapped as a "veil"...

    Leadwing Coachman

A classic wet fly pattern.  Supposed to work really good in Winter for Trout.  Tied here in size 14.

    Coyotoe Ugly Nymph

Tied on a size 8 Mustad 3399.  Original pattern called for a "perfect gap" hook, kind of like a 2xl scud hook.  Basically this bug is a big PT nymph, but with coyote dubbing for the abdomen.

    Articulated Damselfly Nymph

Decided to do an Articulated Damselfly nymph. Hopefully this solves the problem of the detached bodies of the previous pattern I was tying. This is a blend of a few different patterns. Lead hook is a size 12 scud, the articulated body is the shank of a size 8 gold Aberdeen "Crappie" hook. I...

Some Prince Nymphs that I tied up

I've read that Prince Nymphs have a place in all fly boxes.  So, I finally got around to tying some up. The first batch are all size 14. A size 14 next to a penny for scale. After all that, I decided to see how small I could tie them.  Made it down to size 22!

    Clown Eggs

Picked up some egg yarn a few weeks ago.  Been trying to teach myself how to tie GloBugs.  Here's some on size 16 hooks.  Most have beads, so they'll sink, but I also have some without beads, as I'm going to use them with a weighted fly as a two-fly rig.

    Different color Pink Pookie Hoppers

Did up some dark brown over orange, and dark brown over red Pink Pookie Hoppers.  Size 8 dry fly hook.

    Grey Scuds

Earlier this summer, I decided to try a size 18 grey scud that I had in my box.  The gills wouldn't stop eating it!  I finally got around to tying up some more.  These are a little bigger, a size 16.
