Nice find and good price - but yeah I'd definately melt it down and clean it all up, you'll be surprised how much stuff you'll get from it.

I would melt. I use a cast iron pot on top of the fish cooker (King Cooker) outside. I flux with wax

fantastic price - melting would be way easier if you can get a big enough pot. Might think about stashing some lead at that price. Did they tell you the purity? How easy is it to scratch?

This is all stuff people bring in to sell. They always have lead. Mostly pipe and roofing stuff. But when I saw these plates they were shiny and my fingernail cut right into em.l so I bought it all.
I missed out on som X-ray lead a few months back. I'm at the yard 3 times a week for work so I'll keep a better eye out now that I'm pouring.

Gon melt n flux after fishing today.

Any non-aluminum pot would work - my scrap pot was a broken handle stainless 3 qt scavenged from a 50 yr. abandoned dump. A cast iron 1# ingot mold would definitely pay for itself over a lifetime. My used "SAECO" 4 cav still looks like the day I got it 15 yrs and tons of lead later.

Your lead find is unusually shiny for soft - might have some tin content? Last time I checked RotoMetals, tin was $20 a lb. If you compare weight with a same size casting of near pure soft lead like roof flashing, tin content would = lighter.

Gumbo is hard for me. I'm too impatient.
Didn't get much done.

Lead seeeeemed pretty clean. Not much came from the wax. Only got a 1/4 of a 1/4 of a pot done bf I started splashing it where I shldnt be.

Fish were on the small side of small for the after work fish trip., so came home n got back at it



Gon finish this batch n leave it to someone else from now on. I'm too careless and see an accident in the future.
