actually not once. I did everything hook down until I got to the wingcasing. but you do realized I will stick myself 20 times tomorrow now that I have said this.:P
thanks everyone.
I have a half dozen size 10 red hooks left, 1/32 oz. so tommorow I think I will tie up some grey nymphs with alittle red flash body wraps.

J, I applaud your efforts to create buggy replica jig ties once the sole province of fly guys. I've seen some nice wooly bugger jigs but never midge/nymph pattern jigs like yours.

So, use your young artist energy to innovate & create - best I can do as an old fartist is KISS.

The last pic looks like a jig I used as a kid . Fished a little pond that had these weird mounds of dirt that stuck up all around the edges with some kind of short bushes growing on them . You could step from one clump to the other in places . I jigged around that stuff with a cane pole .Caught big ole perch , crappie and a healthy bass . The only problem was the more fish I caught the more snakes showed up eventually ran me out . Those are fish getters . Just for giggles try cane pole jigging with them it's a hoot especially if you get a big fat perch with an attitude.

Gold & natural buggy colors are my preferences for small trout jigs too. JiggerJohn pointed out that larger baitfish ties might be more attractive to bigger trout.

Hey JSchmidt... you may want to invest in some feathers from a game hen -pheasant, wood cock, etc. This jig of mine doubles both as a nymph and a soft-hackle "English" style wet-fly and it uses soft-hackles. They dance a bit better in the water... just a suggestion, not that there is anything wrong with what you tied.

I have always found the need for balance in my fishing. The conditions determines the size/type of the fly/jig. somedays I really work on matching the hatch. somedays I blow it up! :D
