Having had lost a couple of nice fish recently, I experimented with assist hooks today. The usuall way of riging them with a thick stiff cord at the upper eye hampens the rotation on a horizontal retreive, so I fixed them to the rear end. I started out with two tiny salmon tube fly trebles size 13 on a kevlar loop. After a few cast, I hooked a 20" after spawn trout in poor condition. With a headshake, the 2. loose treble got stuck on the outside of the net but I could swing it in with the fish dangling on the kevlar cord. Both trebles got buried so deep I had to kill the fish and cut the net. Unacceptable.

So I went back into the shop and tried with small octopus singles. They worked a treat, got me a legal sized seatrout and a smaller one which could be safely released. The latter one seemed to have bumped into the lure once and a few casts later got hooked below the pectorial fin. It din´t even bite.
