I remember a day in March about 8 years ago... fishing in the 5 acre pond on my Parent's place...with my Dad. Its about 100 acre farm right on Birch creek on the shores of the famous Lake Fork. We were fishing plain lead head jigs with dark grey chenille, red hackle tail with a splash of grey marabou. I have never caught so many BIG Crappie in one day before. Since then it has been one of my favorite patterns...even if I don't catch anything with it. It brings back some fond memories. I dressed the pattern up a little, and this is what I came up with.

I used pearl protec and added tiny bits of black, until it was a silverish color mixed in some gold, silver and red glitter to it. Then reheated jigs and dabbed a little black powder on top, and then a little red on the bottom..... clear coated and cured.

Fatman.... Actually I think it was ruby slipper added on the bottom..not plain red..... I really like that ruby slipper!!! Makes me want to click my heels and say "There's No Place like Home...There's no place like Home" LMAO!!!!!!!!

Nicely Done Jerry . I have done that on a couple of jigs with silver chenille But didn't do the Mallard flank. Think that adds a lot to the pattern. Have to tie me up some like that. I have been on a threadneck jig tying tear here the last few days since I cant get out to go fishing. Will have to post some pictures if it rains again tomorrow.

Thanks for showing how you painted them. I have all the colors and I have to agree after seeing the Ruby slipper heads you painted up I'm really liking that color. I'm hoping to do some painting on Sunday.

Thanks again for the info - I'd post it up in the Paint sticky too!!!!
