Those are some fine looking jigs and airbrushing. What type of equipment are you using?

Your seal coat sure has a nice gloss. Is it also extending over the thread wraps?

What kind of hooks? They look kinda light.

And, what are the threadlike trailers?

Hawnjigs, the threads have 3 to 4 coats of high gloss head cement that is add while the jigs are on a turner. the hooks are 2/0 VMC and the trailer threads are 280

I´m getting really mixed emotions over here cause I see a piece of work that does not only look far better than the stuff in my shop but also makes use of a technique that I have no idea of.:icon14:

There´s a salt water guy in Spain that airbrushes, too. I´ve seen his very good looking work fresh in the shop and then again pretty chewn up at the beach, between some critter´s teeth. Wonder if the paint chips easier or if the jigs are so good and durable they keep catching fish forever, no matter what the lump of lead at the nose has to say. Seems to be the latter(he no ingles me no espaniol)

But seriously, why isn´t there more airbrushing? is it less economical or durable than powder paint? it sure looks good!

Those look like the older Made in France VMCs? I've only used #10 & 8 Frenchies, are they strong in the larger sizes? Have you tried the newer chem sharp China VMCs?

Was wondering how you got such a sturdy thread seal buildup.

Also, what kind of overflash are you tying in?

I think the reason there is more powder being use is because you can produce more jigs for sale by powder painting them than with an airbrush.

I have custom painted Jigs with powders and airbrush colors. I prefer hand down airbrushing for durability / detail and cost of supplies down side it the time it take is much longer. Keep in mind it really depends on the system used to airbrush the jigs.

I get my VMC hook from captain hook and have never had a problem with them.
I layer the head cement with a jig turner.
Krinkle and Holographic

RebornTC These jigs are very nice but look a little different from your first posting with the same style head. On these it is clear that your tinsel extends past the length of your hair. Do you find times where you miss fish with short strikes where this extra length tickle the walleye into hitting early?

The hair length sometime makes the difference .I had walleye pull a minnow off on a short hair and never feel the hit. Then switch to a long hair where only a little of the minnow is showing and they hammer it. The length / amount of the hair also changes the drag and how fast a jig drops in the river. On lakes I like to use 1/8 - 3/16 with long hair for a slower drop. Stingers also help with short bites.

RebornTC I understand what you are saying on the hair. With your pictures on this thread it looks like the floss or tinsel is longer that the bucktail. I would think that this would cause the short strike. When I tie I try to keep my bucktail at the same length and take care not to have any stray hairs a little to long.

Your jigs do look great.

I really like these.

Though not an air brusher, your jigs kinda make me want to consider nail polish painting by hand again. Epoxy or polyurethane topcoat over nail polish is more appealing to my eye that straight powder coating. But, I will have to agree that powder painting is faster...so, I stick with it.

Very nice work.

I missed this one Jay the thread just gives it a different action and works great when walleye are aggressively feeding but when they are short hitting I add stinger hooks to my jigs.

love the people and black ones. I tie that same color combo only on a flathead jig. best color in spring for walleye on the Mississippi for me. I have to use 3/4 there though to cut through the current.
