Getting cold outside? Its trout time

Never have traveled my entire state to fish . Either I was working or prohibeted in my travels for one reason or another . I retired thinking it was time to get out and about . Wound up being a family member care giver .

Getting cold outside? Its trout time

Just got brown trout that I know of . Since catching them is rare I never targeted them . I'm still kicking around but haven't been in the shop for so long Some of the stuff on peg hooks are breaking through the bags and hitting the floor.

An idea to keep soft plastics up on jigheads - the Grub Grip

Actually I'm predominately house bound. Not because of health but because I have been the last 4 years going on 5 taking care of my mother to keep her out of the nursing home. Almost forgot what going fishing was like.

An idea to keep soft plastics up on jigheads - the Grub Grip

I'm kick'in but not to long a strokes. Done very little tackle last few years . Seem to have lost my mojo. But I do still keep an eye on you guys. Most of ya'all still hang'in around from time to time . That's a good thing. Old friends are hard to come by.

An idea to keep soft plastics up on jigheads - the Grub Grip

Being the lazy lout that I am , I tie a heavy thread down the shank . Going down a bit then back to the head leaving a space between the wraps . Tie off at the head . Then hit it with what ever glue I have around. This gives it a screw effect . Holds the bait and I can reuse the plastic. This is...

    Jig Spinners

There are 3 sizes of beetle spin wires. The smallest one will run an 1/8 oz using a no. 0 or 1 blade and a size 10 swivel. If memory serves me correctly . Been a long time since I last made tackle. Probably got some wires and the like around some place.

    Vise for large jigs (5/0).

Back in the day I just welded a pair of vice grips to a piece of plate steel . Looked sort of like your standard fly vise set up.

    Vibrating fluid bed

Hope you get a few hogs. Every great once in a while I get a shot at one off my front porch. Usually one that has wondered down out of the hills heading for somebodies grain field. Not nearly as many here as Texas.

    Vibrating fluid bed

If by chance you hit a little town called Big Cabin it's pretty close to me. I live in the sticks but the good thing is nearly every town around is only 15 minutes away.

    Vibrating fluid bed

Like I always say make do until you do better. Nothing wrong with thinking outside the box. Anything that works even a little is success.

    Vibrating fluid bed

Did that once myself. Long long time ago . Any extra vibration helps . I even took the motor out of a massager and added an empty cup to the bottom of of the fluid bed and let it bounce around in there. Either way the noise made me bonkers.

    Jig Packaging

I used a piece of plexi glass to make the skid . Polished of the sharp edges . Then bent a finger hold with a heat gun . Split some dowels to glue on for position rails. Now for plastics I just use a skid without rails . Because plastics will stick in the bag where you put them . I do keep the...

    Jig Packaging

This is the way I package jigs to keep them neat in a bag. I made this little skid to slide them in . I also use a skid to put plastics in bags . Once they are in squish all the air out of the bag and zip closed. If they don't undergo a lot of tossing around they will stay pretty much put .

    Fooling around .

Got one more then it may be a while before I get to play in the shop again. This thing swims like a snake and scoots threw Lilly pads waving hi to those lunkers hiding underneath. Has a jitter bug blade on the bottom of the head. Makes a perfect head wobble back and forth.
