Egg-Sucking Leech Jigs. Top two jigs are both 1/16th oz, with the middle one being a bigger hook size. Top jig has a marabou tail, bottom two jigs have Rabbit Zonker Tails. All of them have some Krystal Flash in the tail, and the body is Arizona Simi Seal in a dubbing loop, wrapped over Pearl...
This is a blend I did up two years ago, and finally got around to really painting some heads. I'm using these to tie up some Egg-Sucking Leech jigs. Those are some 1/16 and 1/32 store-bought jigs on the left and middle, with some 1/32 size 8 ball-head jigs on the right.
Complex Twist Bugger tied on a TMC 9395 size 4. Two-toned marabou tail with some gold and red Flashabou. Complex twist is a brown schlappen, a dirty yellow schlappen, and some UV Copper Polar Flash. Olive Brown Ice dub for the veil.
Guide's Choice Hare's Ear, size 16. Tungsten bead head, with lead wire underbody. One major deviation from the classic pattern is that I used some Mirage Flashabou for the tail. Intended use for this bug is actually as an ice fly for ice fishing.
A buddy suggested these to me. It doesn't get much easier than this. 1/64 oz lead jigs, on Eagle Claw Lil Nasties (got the jigs from LedHed several years ago), size 10(?). Basic red marabou jigs. Three on the right have a basic red painted head, the three on the left have Ruby Slipper powder...
Tied these up mainly to try as an ice-fishing jig. Size 14, dyed-pink Guinea for the tail, pink sparkle-braid for the body, pink ice dub, thread collar, and a tungsten bead.
Last week, I was fishing live minnows both from a float and as a drop-shot, targeting Yellow Perch. Ended up catching a few Crappie on the deep edges of the weedlines around the shore. It wasn't until I got home that I put two and two together to come up with five, and realize the pattern. ...
Got out from work early again. Decided to go harras some fish :)
Nice Smallmouth that took the jig spinner as soon as it splashed down. Actually thought I was hung in some brush until I felt the headshakes.
Same stream, different spot. Nice hammer-handle pike that took the same jig...
Went to a spot that I can catch lots of Smallies during the Summer on that little baitfish-colored jig I do mounted on a jig-spinner frame with a chartreuse blade.
Ended up catching a small Smallmouth, a small Rock Bass, and a 10" long Yellow Perch! Also had brief hookups with a small LMB that...
Something I've been wanting to try and do are some Tungsten ice fishing jigs. Glow colors seem to be all the rage these days. Gent on another forum asked if anyone had some jigs in a certain weight/size, painted Glow White. I told him I was planning on ordering the paint, and would be in...
I found this one on youtube. Really easy to tie. Tail is a single piece of midge flash, body it 14/0 Veevus, rib is 8/0 grey thread, and the wing is Snowshoe Rabbit. I tied them up in sizes 16, 18, and 20. Close-up shot of a size 20 on the Buffalo Nickle.
A couple prototypes I tied up this morning. I'm not totally sure what to call them; they're a mash-up of a couple different patterns. I'm thinking Complex Twist Snot Goblin? Lead hook is a Gama B10S size 1, trailing hook is a (gasp!) Eagle Claw plain-shank size 2. Top one obviously is a Rainbow...
