Those are nice tyes. I tie a lot of shad dart jigs and have some tied with wool tails also. Have not had the chance to use them yet but I know they are going to work out fine. I have been trolling some shad darts jigs for about a year now and have caught many fish with them.

Stumphunter....what size shad darts are you using. I am using a 1/16oz a lot but the 1/32 on #4 to #10 are hot for gills in Illinois.

I notice that alot of the jigs that are tied are bulkier than what was pictured from Red - I wonder what thougts he would have on this???

Stump I notice that the darts from the new mold have alot more lead at the head of the jig where the old mold had way less, If you look at some from Jungle Jims you can see they're shorter and not as elongated. I've been looking for the older mold

Using a hilt mold....Not sure what the Do-It mold looks like. RnD is still going. Not sure what the exact mixture of wool will be until hitting the water. Fish Tank is showing me what I want to see but what the crappie wants to bite is two different things!!!

Sorry for the slow reply guys. The new do-it mold does have a longer body and is the reason I only use thread necks while tying with them as there isn't really enough room to use chenille and have a nice balanced jig. I do like the the 1/16 jig in shad darts for pulling and the boolies work good on them also. The 1/32 is the size I'm using to tie the wool jigs on as I plan to use them for shooting docks and under floats for crappie and bream fishing.

nice work plateboater! I have noticed that you have to get the wool soaked through and through before it is really fishable. it will actually float a 1/32 head beforehand, so the more wool you put on there the more you will have to make sure it is soaked thru and thru, I don't see this as a problem though. I love the wool and can't waite to fish it soon.
