.... you know it is gonna be a good one. I snuck out this morning to one of my cold water spots to see if some fish had moved in yet. Not a ton of crappie yet, but the gills were hungry for waxworms. Ended up catching one keeper crappie and 11 keeper bluegills. Not bad for a scouting trip!

Had to pack up at 10:00am to come home.... didn't want to be gone too long with the new baby, and the wife being short on sleep. I could have added a bunch more to the bucket if I had time! Still, enough for dinner tomorrow!

Sounds like a productive morning to be off the water that early with a mess of fish. God job!

That sunrise is beautiful.

Went back to the same place today and brought home 8 gills and a 13.5" SLAB crappie! Caught her flipping a 1/16-oz minnow head with duck flank jig toward the bank and she smoked that thing. Most of the time, it is 1/32-oz and much smaller, fished much slower... or you don't get a SNIFF. Lost another 12"+ crappie at the surface... I pulled a D.A. move and tried lifting it out of the water, not scooping it up with the net. 2# line snapped. I cussed myself for a few minutes out loud for that one!
