That is not always true, individual ink cartridges and anyway you look at it the Black Cartridge is always going to put a hurting on your wallet, unless you refill your own, but now a days you have to know how to reset the printer if you are doing that as well, turning something easy into something difficult for the mighty green back.

Purchase a high capacity black and color and you can almost buy a new printer...

You can also get a little gadget that only costs a few bucks and resets the printer chip just by pushing on it with a set of pins. To fix the 'waste ink counter' in epson printers, you need the SCC service utility.

...but now a days you have to know how to reset the printer if you are doing that as well...
