This is my version of "joes rootbeer jig" posted on flyfish Ohio's website, I took that jig and made it my own using a larger jig with slightly different material. Both these jigs are the same, they are 3/16oz weedless round head jigs painted brown with a 2/0 60 degree flat eye hook. The underbody is orange bucktail and over top of it is the dark portion of a gray dyed bucktail which is really close if not spot on for rootbeer bucktail. That bucktail was just slightly shorter than the orange which makes for a mottled appearance in the upper body while leaving an orange tail and then it was finished by tying in a small cape style collar using furnace hackle. I'm going to tie a bunck of the smaller round heads and try the pattern on those and then see which ones work better on the water.
