Never tried one, but looking at your pics of under spin jigs, was wondering if they hang bottom less? Looks like the spinning blade may create a lift cushion or act as a bumper to keep a jig off bottom?
I've been fishing Chub head BS on a countdown and slow retrieve. My partner has been slow dragging a lighter BS. Haven’t notice anymore or any less snag losses. Been fortunate in that BS jigs don’t need any tuning – they track straight. Need to get back to the Phlatapus BS – having too much success with the Chub BS.
It seems the ones i have tied point nose down, roadrunners i'm talking about, from the resistance of the blade and where it attaches to the head i guess. This makes me tend to think the nose could get lodged in a crack easy, but i have not fished them alot so i am interested in hearing this as well.
