Tying the auto..?

I saw some of the huge gills LedHed was catching on his autos, and i was just curious, is there a tutorial on it or a recipe for it here on the site anywhere??

Been promising to do it... You will be surprised how easy it is.
Using
3/0 flat wax thread - body
UV Krystalflash - tail
Reptile rubber or silicon tabs - tail & arms

See what I can do tomorrow or Tuesday.

1/16 oz with #6 hook and stump's press for eyes. Take two strands down the side and extend beyond the head about 1 inch. The trick is to start your tie back so you can for the head. My design is a little different but still a killer.

I tied a few on a 1/64 with size 8 sickle yesterday and it was easy to do, I had some old centipede round legs, still would like to try the reptile rubber, but it comes in 3 oz packs for 8 or 9 bucks, they say it is about a 15 foot strip per pack, the kind led uses with the dual color scheme is a special color scheme, in other words he uses the ones mostly with a different color bars on each side, then they have a bunch with the same color scheme all the way around, which are like my old centipede legs. flat waxed nylon thread works good for building the body, and I used dome crystal flash for the tail, this should be a killer bream and shellcracker bait where I fish. Ledhead, I am interested in knowing the history of this jig and how it came about.

Redear....good info. Agree would be cool to here some history. For me, this bait I used about two years ago from a tier in Victoria, IL used in strip mine country for gills. His version is more on the 1/64 size. All the legs/arms folded back and did not stick out so much as Led's. I like Led's flared version more.

Thnx, JC members, for the interest in the auto style jig. The jig evolved from an unknown manufactured jig that stop making them. My friends nephew had the jig that was ~1/80th chub style head, #10 hook, with rubber legs and the rubber on the neck was flared out all around. I did a pretty good copy but found out real quick that bigger fish would inhale it down to the tail fin.
So - made the jig bigger, bigger hook, added UV Krystalflash, and changed to an arm configuration. First trial run produced 7 fish with 7 casts - the auto was born.

Put a tutorial up tonight.
