Now, the Slab Bandit is a Sour Grape (has been real good on Palestine)

The tail is Purple Guined Body & Chartreuse Hackle. I'm gonna play with that purple powder and see if I can get it closer to Grape. Any suggestions?

Very nice!!!! Be careful with the purple over chartruse, if you get the grape color you're looking for it will turn brown after it is cured. To stop that you cure just the chartreuse and then add the purple.

To get grape I wouldn't add black unless I had to. I'd start with a dark blue. Honestly purple with a topcoat of junebug should get u there. As smalljaw said watch out for change during the cure. Best bet is to not overcoat the chartreuse!

Thanks RD. The chartreuse is brush-dusted on the "belly" of the head. I'll try some junebug over the purple tonight cuz I can dip the head to add the chartreuse. Thanks all for the input.

How about candy purple made by ProTec. Couple that with olive or green tomato. May get you close. Afine tie nonetheless. Try as is to see if any adjustment is needed at all.

Great ties Vern....Might try to add just a touch of blue to your purple mix...will get a little closer

What Roger said is what i was thinking..... looked and don't have any mixes that are darker purple in my jars but that is where i'd start.

Also - not saying your way is wrong at all but just mentioning that you paint dark (top side) first then your light (belly) color is opposite from how i do it. I have just about always painted light to dark not matter what i am painting....... jigs, watercolor, screen print. You can dip the head in the lighter color and the dark easily covers up the light. Just my personal painting sequence - try it once and see what you think.

The chenille colors look like a near perfect match. Nice jigs!

Think the middle one will be close enough? I think it will be more blue than the plastic bait. But i got that color from a base of dragonfly and a top dip of junebug. I think you could get real close witha base coat of blue sapphire and top coat of junebug!

Well, last night was my first attempt at mixing powder's to get a particular look. It took several tries (you can see the progression, bottom to top) but I think I'm real close. The 2 dark heads were 2 shades of blue under coat with junebug top coat. Too dark and a definite green tint. The rest are white/junebug mix, starting with 2/1 and finally, the 4 with a chartreuse dusting are 12/1 mix.

Ron Don, I was wrong, of the 3 blue's I have, none were Sapphire. The 2 I tried were with Turquoise & I think Hammer Blue.

On the two bottom ones you say are too dark - the one further back looks like a great match to the back of the plastic. The ones you dusted look great as well as the white/junebug. But the blueish with the chart dust the blue is lighter than the back of the plastic.

If you have a couple of the bodies, lay one over the hook with the dusted one and one over the dark one. I really think the chartreuse cactus chenille would pop with the head you think is too dark.

And if last night was the first time you mixed powder!!!!!!!! We're all in trouble!! great job.
