It was overcast the first morning so picture didn't turn out very well. I fished new stuff that I recently tied, leaving all the proven fish catchers at home. Fortunately, the new baits worked great.Last picture is of the most successful ones. In a full day of fishing plus the part of the next morning I caught 60 + rainbows average size was about 12 inches, the biggest was 16 1/4 inches. Also caught large and smallmouth bass, rock bass, and some bluegill. Great trip, wading 58 degree water with temps in the upper 80's. I may have to start using waders, think my legs are still numb.

Nice catch Jim. Were you in the St. Louis area during this adventure? Looks like a beautiful stream. Jigs look killer too!

Congrats on the catch! Awesome trip! I would love to have some clear water like that around here. And 58 degree water.... Wow! Ours is in the low 90's.

Crippler,I fished Maramec Springs which is about 100 miles from St.Louis.I Try and fish it a few times a year during the week to avoid crowds. The trout parks in Missouri get pretty crowded sometimes. Where you live you have more options. Trout aren't my favorite to eat but are fun to catch. I smoke them on the grill and they are pretty good that way. After the jig bite slowed today I tied the little 1/40 oz. chub spinner and caught 7 on the first 7 casts. I'll definitely make more of these. Tried a gray chub spinner and didn't get a hit. I guess they'll work for crappie and gills. The #0 willow on these spins like crazy.

I've heard of Maramec, SW of St. Louis? Never been there, but can't miss the Maramec Cavern signs on the way there! Bennett Springs and Roaring River are both good places to fish nearby me but the crowds are bothersome. They hold decent size trout, but can't beat the wild ones further downstream. I'm amazed by the hunt, and often stumped at how to catch the big ones, but when I watch "A River Runs Through It", I get goose bumps! Your chub spinner looks awesome!
