bb " 1/32 Cultiva minnow heads with no8 Owner hooks" - can you get 90* #8 owner hooks? Smallest here, I think, is a #4 and it's a thin wire. How much do those heads cost?

Can't take pics of the raw heads/hooks till tomorrow. Meanwhile here's a quartet of the 1/32nd Cultiva minnow heads with no8 Owner hooks. All tied with rabbit, all ridiculously over-made (the one on left has five colours in tail!) but fun. Meant to be versions of a baby redfin perch.

Fun doing the little red pectoral fins, and the two on left have some pearl midgeflash a bit longer than the rabbit fur and the last little bit coloured red with a Sharpie.
My fav is second from left.

Led, the 1/32nds were a bit less than a buck a head, the 1/16ths as I said I got on special, maybe 70c-80c a head.
Itty bitty jigs are a challenge! Don't know how you guys do sweet little 1/64th and 1/80ths.

Those are all amazing. Not sure I can spend that much time on anything but truly admirable and can see that it'd pay off.

Thanks LRB (Little River Band?:D). Lost, being housebound does strange things to a man.

bb - can you buy owner #8 90* hooks???? I would really like to get a hold of some of those. Are tying materials easy to get in WA? Sorry for all the questions.

Led I'm unsure what jig hooks you can get here (I'm in state of New South Wales, other side of Oz) as I don't mould and as far as fly materials in WA, guess there must be a few places which carry stuff as there's a thriving saltwater fly scene over there. Lot of online tackle buying in all of Oz.
Here's the Cultiva minnow heads in 1/16th with no6 Owners and 1/32nd with no8 Owners. Didn't even realise til recently that Owner owns Cultiva.

Ridiculously over-packaged, complete with little rubber band to hold jigs nice and straight, like a lot of Japanese tackle. But as I said before, the quality of the moulding's not as good as in the past. Gotta clean m up a bit before painting, which I've never had to do with other jigs. Do moulds wear out? Local tackle stores don't stock these anymore. Googled the price on the packaging and today 350 yen is Oz$4.43/US$4.54.

bb - you can abuse molds but they rarely wear out. That head would be hard to have cut for a custom mold. It could be done. Are you able to order hooks in bulk?

Led yeah you can get a fair variety of bulk hooks, but Owner only in 3/0, 5/0 and 7/0. Few very small hooks around for the few guys who pour their own heads for plastics.

Have you emailed Capt Hooks about these hooks??? they may not be available on the Capt site but they may be on Shorty's, if you have the right documents to order from there.

Anytime I'm looking for a hook not listed I'll email them - 80% of the time it's because they haven't gotten them loaded yet.

Worth a try

bb - we can't get he small owners either, Captiva probably had a special run made for them.

Fm - We usually order from Shorty's - never seen small Owners listed.

"the quality of the moulding's not as good as in the past" Uh oh, sounds like Owner might be outsourcing to China?

You can buy Owner hooks direct from the USA distributor with the same tax documents as with Shorty's. Customer service is IMO excellent. Never tried the light wires as quality less expensive options are available.

Yup, Japanese packaging is kinda over the top. Owner hooks by the thousand come, or used to, meticulously folded special paper wrapped per 100.

Yeah smallest I saw was a 6 - Seems weird you try and buy stuff from a company and give them money and they don't have what ya want.

Hawn - anything to show they're moving their hooks to Japan??? or just really worried about it???
