Every year since I was about 12, I went to the creek or rivers with my dad after dinner for some "Lure Hunting". This year was no different. My son has gone along for about the last 6 years. Today we hit Shoal Creek. Found some loot, Tyler caught a fish, and the weather was beautiful. Had to show off the jig. He picked the colors. He catches fish year round on that ugly thng!

Now there is a tradition that I really like. Looks like it was a good day for you fellows. I got to talk to my son on the phone you were lucky to spend it with yours.

It is really fun. By Thanksgiving all the leaves are off the trees and the goods are easy to spot. Our "season" started yesterday. We'll go every weekend now. Any bridge, creek bank, lake shore within an hour drive is our target. To date well over 1300 bobbers and close to 800 lures have been plucked from the trees. We hang them all on a net. Many can't be reached. We don't cast too well in Missouri I guess!!
Doc this is our newest pole. It is a painters pole from Home Depot. Extends from 8 to 26 feet in 3 sections. Bought a cheap paint roller, took off the cover, heated the wire and bent into a spiral. Attaches to end of pole for additional 1 1/2'. My grandpa started all this with a 16' pole years ago. The big one was about $40.00. We get some strange looks from passers by, but we don't care!

He looks like a happy camper with that fish. Glad to see I'm not the only one that scarfs up others misfortune. We used find peoples crab nets at the beach when their lines would snap. Never thought of going to the local lakes/creeks to look for stuff.
