Tried my hand at tail spinners this week. Plan to fish them for crappie this spring. I like each jig's compactness ahead of its Colorado blade.

Chose basic white and green chartreuse patterns. The jig heads weigh 1/16 of an ounce and have #4 gold Aberdeen hooks.

LashMax Yarn seems made for these. So long Silicone. ;)

They look beautiful - now comes the testing. :) Trust me, the crappie & bass WILL nail them if you can find them.

What size CO blades are those? Just a warning - might want to take along some blades a size smaller (or Indy Blades of the same size) if you have them in case those cause your jig to roll. By my eye, those blades might be a size too big.................. but i could be wrong. Make sure to have some scissors or a knife too in case the 'skirt' is too long and not letting the swivel spin.

ALSO - it does depend how fast you are planning to retrieve them. It becomes a balancing act between the weight of the jig, position of the hook eye and size of the blade. When you get it right, these things are compact little rockets!!! You can create wake with the colorado blades easily or slow roll willows in deeper water. ;)

I saw your 'tubeless' tube jigs too with the LashMax yarn - sweet!!!

Nice work, they'll slay the crappie but bass will eat those too. AF's right, if the blade is to big they'll roll over so I'd bring a few smaller blades along. If it was a 1/8 head it would be fine I think.

Blades are a size 1. Will try smaller blades in the future. Also, I'm glad that you like the "tubeless" tube jigs too. :)

Thank you Jim. Will bring smaller blades. However, the way I've tied these will allow me to cut the blade and swivel off completely. The jigs have a loop of tied-in upholstory thread that acts as a yoke for the swivel and hook shank. With a cut, I could fish the jig without its blade which might not be a bad idea as well. ;)
