First of all, I apologize for the picture quality, my skills aren't great and my camera is outdated so the macro function doesn't work to well. These are jigs I made using Spirit River UV2 enhanced material and on Friday I was really catching the fish on them and I'm not sure if the fish liked the look or if they actually saw the jigs better with the UV or not but they were hammering these so for now I'll keep making them. They are 1/8oz ball head with a 60 degree flat eye hook in a 3/0 size. The material is all Spirit River UV2 chartreuse buck tail, black ultra chenille, fl. orange hackle. Pretty simple but so far effective.

Thanks all! I'm a rookie compared to the rest of you, I know how to tie but my patterns have been all buck tail jigs and rabbit leeches and craws. When my friends father told me about catching bass on his crappie jigs I thought about it and realized he was right, the bass jigs made from hair were pretty well normal and boring compared to crappie jigs and steelhead jigs. So I'm now going to experiment with all kinds of stuff and the work that is up on this website is fantastic for ideas and inspiration, I'm really glad to be here!

Nice jigs!!! Do you have a custom mold for those heads or is it somthing you moded in one of your molds??

Fatman, these aren't custom heads or from a modified mold, I make them with my shaky head mold that uses the flat eye hooks and spring lock, I just pour them without the spring lock and then file off the little stub along with the sprue, it takes 2 seconds and it gives me a nice collarless jig. I do make jigs using collars too but those are mostly bucktails and rabbit hair. What do you like about them and do you need a few?

No thought you had a modified mold, some of the guys have taken large split shot and made those like that. The eye like that gives it just a little bit different action than the 90 degree hook. I've been looking at the shaky head but I wouldn't use more than the 1/16th and the 1/8th. Unless I get up to Champlain I wouldn't need the bigger ones, so I've held off buying the mold.

Those look good - the hackle neck should give some good movement crawled along the bottom.

I've been playing alot with a similar style of jig but using silicone skirt material up at the front instead of the hackle you used. They do work great!
