Some Marabou Jigs

A buddy asked me for some marabou micro jigs. I did some 1/64 ball head jigs with sickle hooks. I tied in two colors of marabou at the bend of the hook. I twisted one color into a rope, wound that onto the shank, tied it off, then just pulled the second color straight over the first. I'm calling it a "Marabou Skunk". Of course, it's going to have the second color on the bottom once it's in the water. Here's some pics with what I've done so far.

Thanks all. Next time I paint some jigheads, I'll tie some up for me. I've got LOTS of marabou, in who knows how many different shades. Who knows, I might not wait until I paint more jigheads :)

Like the idea a lot, paint some heads and put them up. I may have to try that for some crappie. Ole

Great idea! :icon14: I caught my very first jig trout (20" brown) on a not-so micro similar pattern (1/16, size 4 belly spinner) after I read about twisted marabou bodies here. The two colors will make it even more appealing and fry-ike. I`ll better add some ripping, these will get chewed upon!

Are those 3* strong sickles? Looking good!

Bucho, I don't think so. I think they're normal-strength sickle hooks, just red. Picked them up at a local bait shop. The bait shop probably ordered them from chuckanddeb dot com. I know I've seen the same size/shape/hook type there.

Great lookin jigs.
Tried the JoJo pattern - Bluegill and Redear (out here) are too tough on them. Have to counter wrap wire.
