I really enjpoyed that read .. along with the rest of the thread..
Brought back some memories of Fishing, Tackle and Business as well as everyday living and
a lot of that was before the period of the thread ... Ever use a "Standard Bait Caster" ?
A lure on the older Pflugers (Akron, Skillcast, Summit) or Shakespeare, Ocean City, South Bend.
Dream of a Young boy fishing with artificals back in those days was a Pfluger Supreme or Shakespeare President.
The Langley Series came out and was quite a change with the "Anti Inertia Spool" That lasted me until
"Amassadors" and Spinning reels came into being .... what a revolution with Fiberglass Rods and Mono Line
(some change from Nylon Line I used mostly 12.5 lb in camo with a mono or "Cat Gut" leader the length of the blank)
When the first Fieberglass rods came out after WWII was quite a revolution from Solid & Hollow Steel (or what
ever You could make one out of .. Too much to remember and I ramble.
"Doll Fies" Were relative new ..

Funny when you read an article like this how old memories buried in your brain just float up from nowhere . First piece of tackle I can remember seeing was a jig strung on a cane pole . Thanks for the post .

Great read ... love all that ol' stuff.

That Mama fish'n's kinda cute too.

Got Billy's book too. Fun read. Reminds me of times that were simpler.

Great read, I didn't know the original doll fly was made from Polar Bear. I remember throwing doll fly's in the 60's, but thought they were marabou.
