yellowjacket, If you are talking about the jigs that RED ties and we imitate, it is satin not silk, and we get it at joann's fabrics, which is a sewing and craft store. It comes on what they call a bolt, you just go over there and ask for the costume satin, then just pick up the bolts of fabric you like the colors of and lay them on the counter and tell the lady you want a six inch wide strip from each color, the fabric is 43" wide so it will be 6"x43" and 7 strips cost me 5 bucks, so it is cheap, there is a satin beside the costume satin that is a little more expensive, I think it's a little lighter in weight and goes by boroque satin I think. and jiggerjohn says that red also used something from joanns called pearlized sheer, which is another fabric. the satin has fibers that can be pulled out of the side of a small 2"x2" peice which is how we use it, don't know yet about the pearlized sheer fabric.

WalMart carries some also, I bought a 1/2 yard of each color this morning.

My SIL being a seamstress had all these scraps of satin and just gave them to me.
