in the kiel canal, the gobies have eliminatad practically every other fish that breeds there but the nest-protecting zander(walleye) that feeds on them. There is no other fish but goby, zander, trout and eel which breed elsewhere. Not cool.

Same goes for the country´s biggest river, the rhine. With practically every river system connected by canals and ship traffic, its just a matter of time before they spread the continent.

Catch many of them in Erie while yellow perch fishing. They seem to roam around in large swarms too. Hard to keep them off your line if you use traditional 2-hook wire spreaders since the bait will lay down on the bottom.... they do not come up far from bottom for anything, or else THEY get eaten. Have read in a couple places now that they supposedly have become the #1 forage for smallmouth in Erie.

Next threat coming up the Mississippi towards the Great Lakes is the Asian/Silver Carp.
