I have some old jigs that were powderpainted and cured and they're no good. Can I melt the lead off of them with the paint on and flux the lead? Will the paint burn up like the other impurities or will it mess up the rest of the lead in the pot?

Yep - be careful. You can skim the slag when it it surfaces. Little bit of candle wax is good flux. You got to be careful, as well, when you add it to hot lead. I use an old long handled tea spoon - put the wax in the spoon and slowly lower into the melted lead. Watch out for flames!

Thanks guys, I have fluxed my lead before and I have all the safety gear, I just wanted to make sure the paint on the jigs wouldn't ruin the lead already in the pot.
