I'm turning out a variety of 1/16-oz. jigs for crappie each night this week. Here are a few tied tonight for next Thursday's crappie trip.

Mixed a couple of new-to-me powder colors, a plum brown and a dark mustard, which can't be seen very well in this picture. But, I look forward to using them on some bass-sized jig heads in the future.

I've been a "brushed-on" paint and epoxy guy for quite a long time. Now, powder paint mixing is a lot of fun to me and will continue to be in my jig-painting repertoire.

[qutoe]...Why such long built up wrap for the brown jigs? ...[/quote]

I can't speak for him as to 'why' he did, but i do like them - 2nd one even more - because they look very similar to some tubes that i used to throw. I haven't bought any plastics for awhile now though!!!

For crappie - i would normally tie on those rednecks 1st, but lately i have been having by far better luck with darker colors so i would lean towards the browns at this point. Good luck and let us know how you do next week.

 :jig: 's

Thanks for your comments Guys. :)

The build up was due to a burr that I didn't file down enough on the jigs collar. To cover the hump, I built up the body.

I went long with the wrap to create a body similar to what's often done with chenille yarn.

Thanks AF. Will report on my trip occurring later in the week. The fellow I'll be fishing with will put us over fish. But, will they bite? Will they like our offerings? We'll see.

Been tying with darker colors lately in preparation for overcast conditions. We've had quite a few overcast days lately in my area. So many, that I'm beginning to forget what sunshine is. ;)

I really like that all black one with the dark brown head, and the black and gold one. That flashy gold should get there attention :)
