One with a collar

Here is one I did trying to finish off the spool of thread I'm using so I have a fresh one for the grandson. I used a 3/32oz head with a size 1 hook, the head is black with red flake which came out in the pic pretty strong so I apologize for that. Anyway, I used some red bucktail, a little gold flash, some orange and black varigated chenille, and soft red grizzly hackle for a collar.

Nice tie buddy!!!!! Actually that red glitter at the tip could help - a fish might take it as a crayfish that's getting ready to molt or is hurt as you pop it.

Thanks guys, the red at the tip of that jig is throughout the entire head but the flash of the camera caught the head at an angle that only the top part seemed to show up. That red glitter coat and firecracker glitter coat sit really nice on black and throw off a lot of flash in sunlight in the water.

You will find out that little collar will do a lot to get strikes on a slow day . I use it a lot on my own jigs . That jig has the colors your going to need this fall or right now for that matter . Looks good give it ago.

Thanks TF and JJ1, I've been pleasently surprised how well these types of jigs are working on bass. Normally it is rabbit or bucktail but I have done pretty good on some I made with hackle and chenille and my neighbor's son was catching some big chain pickerel on black marabou jigs I made for him. I do like the collars in the water, it makes the jig have a little more life and it noticably slows the fall, so far I'm loving tying these jigs, I never knew there was so much more than just rabbit, bucktail and craft hair.

That's a good looking jig! I would think, once the fish get into the fall pattern that should do well on a slow drop
