Older Jig Molds Flashing Question

Hello - my first post here and I have a question. I used to cast lots of different sinker and jig molds and have gotten rid of most of my molds. I just decided to start casting a few again and have acquired a few molds (probably jumped the gun a bit). I bought these off Ebay I thought at a reasonable price.

After doing some research it looks like these older molds may leave a lot of flashing that needs to be trimmed? Is there a way to do any tweaking of these molds to eliminate or minimize thi flashing?

I also posted this in the vintage jigs forum - I think its more appropriate here.

Appreciate the help!

Tighten the hinges, scrape any flattened lead / dirt from the face, maybe a little JB Weld in worn out channels and hook eye recesses. That where I would start. Sometimes molds are just ruined by the back yard machinist(s) that have messed with the mold over the years.

The jig mold www address on my first post doesn't work. Its a Palmer Mfg Jig Mold 560 Jigs 1/16 to 3/8 oz Ball Jig Sinker mold (which I think are fairly common). Not sure what work with it - any help here would also be appreciated!

Have to agree with Hawn sell them to some one else and get the Do-It's. I think in the end you will be much happier and it will be much safer for you. Those look like a accident waiting to happen. Sorry buddy but that is just my opinion. They are good for a collection I have some in mine but as far as pouring some better to be safe than sorry.

This is as good as it gets - 10+ yrs old & like new! This series mold represents the pinnacle of Do-it quality.

Edit: if interested, ask the Seller if he/she can unscrew the wooden handles and ship in a small Priority Mail flat rate box(for less shipping cost). Make sure they understand the handles SLIDE off the metal tongues.
