Saw a guy pull in a fish as I was walking back from a surf along the beach. Got home grabbed a light outfit armed with a 1/8th shrimp style jig and returned.
Scored my first swallowtail dart on a jig. Not a big fish, about 10 inches, but I reckon they are a very handsome critter. They like warm water and we've got that in Sydney at the moment (one of my mates got three marlin yesterday!)

That is a cool looking fish, nature sure can produce some very aerodynamic and efficient shapes.

They fly ?!

Looks tasty. The oversize tail must propel quick spurts disproportionate to body mass.

What is the function of long stiff dorsal & anal fins?

Edit - HYDROdynamic. Shape reminds me of a belly board.

Now i am thinking.... would that make flying fish a multidynamic species?
