A pending WORLD RECORD redear sunfish was caught a couple of weeks ago by Hector Brito at Lake Havasu, AZ. The giant fish weighed 5.78 lbs. He caught it off a bluff on a drop-shot rig and a piece of worm. Locals say there are a bunch more even bigger in that lake and they grow that big because they feed on invasive mussels that invaded Havasu. Road trip anyone??

Talked to a reunited friend last night - thought he moved out there. Turned he retired from the LA fire department and stayed in El Monte. He keeps a boat dry docked at the river and one out here. Making some plans to get out there with my fishing partner Jim. His personal best is 4.1lb and he has 5 REs over 3lbs! Got the low down on the secret jig...
