Any one knows where I can buy a cheap heat gun. Im on a buget so I need a desent one but cheap at the same time.

Heat guns are the way to go, but I use a propane torch for know....Hardware stores also carry them.

Home Depot had Wagner brand with dual heat settings for way under twenty bucks, I think 12.99.

I agree with harbor if you want a heat gun.. I prefer my alcohol burner,bout the same price if not less,and a qt of denatured alcohol will last a long time..

Got all of the above but I use the heat gun the most. Janns sells the alcohol burner.

I guess I do it all backwards. Propane torch and I dip my heads straight into the jar of PP... no fluid bed.

I don't use a fluid bed either... straight into the jar it goes!

I use a propane torch and a heat gun at different times. About the only color I use the fluid bed for now is chartreuse. I'm going to try the oil lamp too.
I'm not to sure if the Harbor Freight heat gun gets as hot as it should on the low setting but on high it does fine.

I finally decided the fluid bed was too much trouble also. I use the jar method myself with no problems. I just put the lid back on and shake it up every now and then to keep it fluffed.

Got an embossing heat gun you can have - wasn't thinking the other day - duh.

I’ve been using heat guns for my powder painting because the majority of my painting is using multi colors. I have found that there is more control using guns as opposed to using an open flame when you are applying the additional colors. However, I do know of a very prolific (and talented) tyer that uses a BIC lighter!

Haven't used a fb for years - "fluff and stuff" is fine unless you are doing alot of jigs.

My heat gun is a 1500-Watt dual temp from Harbor freight. I like using it for jigs weighing 1/8 of an ounce or more.

For jigs weighing 1/16 of an ounce or less, I use disposable cigarette lighters. Cheap and they last a while.

I haven't bothered to put together the components for my fluid bed simply because heating the jig head and then quickly "swishing" it through a bowl of powder works quickly and well for me. I purchased some 6.5-oz. glass "hoops" bowls with plastic covers recently that are perfect for my powder mixing, storage, and painting (swishing) needs.

thanks guys for all your help, ledhead invited me over this morning to his house and he showed me how to powder paint. He also gave me a heat gun and other tools I realy needed, thanks alot ledhead for all the help your giving me.
