The awesome red color is thanks to Russ( thanks again!) the legs are black hackle. Very new to tying liked the ook of the jig head.

Glad you like it! Red ants are a staple in many tackle boxes around here for fishing through the ice. That would catch bluegill in my local waters.

Are you stripping one side of the fibers of your hackle feather before wrapping it? It might help to keep from trapping the feather fibers when you wrap. Can be done either way, but i usually strip one side. Keep at it!!!

Nice tie, another cheap way to make ants is to get some 210 denier thread and build up the body and either epoxy it or put some sort of head cement on the 2 parts of the body and once it dries then tie in your rubber legs or hackle. I like the thread ant when the bite is tough cause the slow sink really gets 'em
