I think I can figure out the knot, but need suggestionss on what line to use in tying the stop knot itself.  Once on your fishing line, this is the adjustable knot that can be used to change position before re-tightening to set the bobber depth using slip bobbers.  Thanks and Good Fishing, Mac

The ones i have used in the past look like kite string to me. Not really sure though, never tried to make my own.

Without straw and 6 to 8 wraps you don't have to cut line and re-rig just to add slip Bobber I like the kind that has white split straw and red insert straw. Make sure to turn split in foam to a side other wise stop bead will push red insert down. I leave 1 -3 beads on my mainline at all times so you don't have to re rig too. I use the rainbow brand or at least has picture of rainbow on packing and comes in two pack, about 3 or 4 size options

Those are cool kdog, thanks. In a hurry I've used the smallest split shot I had as upper stop, works pretty well in a pinch (pun intended)

The braided line works and doesn't loosen like the dacron, but I use small diameter mainline and small diam braid. I have to tie a bunch of extra knots outside the stop knot to get it to catch the bead. All in all if you can tie it to the main line and make it stop the bead it'll work. I've used mono too. I like to be able to see my stop knot. That rapid knot movement was a strike...
I do a lot of deep stops and generally reel the knot into the guides and/or on reel, the dacron seems to come loose fastest and long tag ends, singed to keep from unraveling, is critical to re tighten knot periodically.
