A buddy at work told me about a batch of lead on VT Craigslist, he had gotten no-where getting in contact with them.

Well I looked it up and SHE, has 4 - 1/2 filled 5 gallon buckets of old wheelweights and a lot of bricks of lead!! Well I got in touch with her by email then called - she's trying to get rid of it and told me $50 bucks for all of it, Roughly 200+ lbs.!!!!

So I'm going to split the load with my buddy who does alot of reloading and he's going to take most of the wheel weights and some pure and I'll take the rest - $25 bucks apiece and he'll pick it up and bring it to the office to split up.

I really hate buying it but my local machanic's wife decided to get rid of all the tire weights to a recycler even though he was saving them for me.

Yeah Hawn and I don't like it! LOL I wouldn't have had to if my mechanics spouse had tried to make extra money for the shop and recycled the wheel weights he had sorted for me.

But 25 bucks for 100 lbs+ not bad, as I'm splitting it with a guy from work, and now she's telling me there's a pot to go with it!!!!

Deal is done!!! and my buddy is going to pick it up and bring it to the office.

With as much as you go through would it be cheaper for you to go through say Roto Metals and buy in larger quantities???

Doug,
That is who I bought it from. alloyed lead is about $1.89/lb w/6% antimony and 99.9% lead is $2.19/lb all are ingots. I bought a 100 lbs of each. I have not used it yet, but I want to see how the alloyed one pours. If it pours fine then I will buy that from now on. The nice thing about it is free shipping.

Since the foundry price of antimony is over $6 per lb. its odd that the hard alloy is cheaper than the 99.9.

Jeez, just checked Roto and antimony is $14 per lb.! I guess metals suppliers are making a reasonable profit...

Just waiting for my buddy to stop by with the lead and we'll load my part in the car. With what I have and this I'm set for a while, although I'll always keep an eye out for free lead!!!!!!
