I'm on a fb group and I was ask if these bucktails were hollow tied. First time I've heard the term. So what exactly is a hollow tie?

A hollow tie as I understand it is when the bucktail is tied forward, then bent back by building a thread dam in front of and on the edge of the hair. Sometimes there is a large thread dam or bump behind the hair to keep it from collapsing on retrieve. It is hollow because of the space under the hair. It is a way to tie a large fly without a ton of weight and maintains a nice profile when swimming.
