Here's some grizzly hackle ties I did up with black and white chenille and some black chenille on Ledheds football heads and two pill heads

Now some of you will say it's gotta be expensive tying with those small grizzly feathers but NOT REALLY!!!!

Collins hackle out of NY http://www.collinshacklefarm.com/ has what they call tailing packs, they're offered in grizzly, dun, brown and white. He may have added more. They don't take credit cards. Now this is what you get for $5 bucks

There's a bunch of different size's in the pack, they are basically the spade hackle from trimming hackle necks. It's good stuff for spade hackle but not as good as some of the spade hackle on the old Metz and chinese necks.

Wow five bucks does that include the shipping as well...... Pretty expensive for such a small amount of feathers .....

Your ties do look really good - the grizzly/barred coloration is very eye appealing!

I don't use a whole lot of hackle for anything, but do use some grizzly mini marabou on small jigs that i would think is similar to that and very cheap. By the description on the Collins Hackle site, sounds like those are more geared towards use on dry fly patterns...... and would guess you pay xtra for that designation. ;)

There's a WHOLE lot of feathers in that bag. I ordered all four colors and it was $5.95 shipping.

Attica - Even if they are geared towards fly fishing I'll use them for anything. It's nice using them as I don't have to mess with my capes.

Looks good Doug. I have a few grizzly small capes that I use every now and then that are tied the way you tied those jigs. Makes a good jig.

Like these. Cn't help thinking they would be the jigs prisoners would use in the old days when they had to wear striped clothes!!
