I am wanting to add glitter to some glitter-coat powder paint that I have in order to get a really heavy coat of glitter. What type and size glitter is needed- and where can it be found? Many thanks for any help!

I'm assuming you have the ProTec stuff. If it is and I wanted to add more if you don't have another container use a zip lock bag and pour some of it into the bag. Keep that for a regular glitter coat.

Take what's left and depending on what colors you want add them in. Most of us use glitter from Hobby Lobby, Michaels, AC Moore, JoAnnes Fabrics and when we cure we lower the heat and extend the cure time. I use fine and extra fine. I don't buy the premade stuff - I get clear powder and dump all the glitter into it, heat the jig, dip your base coat, reheat and dip in the glitter clear. Are you looking for a heavier show of glitter than this

Out here...
You can also get the metalic glitter from TJstackle.com.... Or fingernail polish, but it doesn't hold up as well as powder paint.

I hope you used your fist post for a free Tshirt :D Welcone to JC from West Texas....

So Cal I.E.
Michael's carries glitter (Martha Stewert) that is used for scrapbooking (embossing). It's not as heat sensitive.

I have gotten glitter from w-mart that worked just fine, get it in the craft section. Some say you need to cure at lower temp for longer but i have been doing curing right around 350° and not had problems yet.

To get a heavy glitter look, you can tap it on from a brush or dip right into the glitter while the base color of powder is still HOT and wet/sticky. You can also just add a bunch right into clear to make it thick with glitter. If your first one is bumpy from the glitter, tap on a light coat of just plain clear powder before you re-heat the head to smooth it over.
