I noticed sometimes a person puts Flashabou or Krystal Flash on the jigs they make, and other times they don't. How do you determine which jigs get flash and which ones don't?

Good ?

I mostly use crystal flash, good stuff

Match the hatch - subtle - usually no flash

Attractant or stimulating patterns - flash

Baitfish patterns - flash

Wow, LedHeds explanation perfectly defines the term "concise".

I'd like to add tho that JiggerJohn taught me that for maximum metallic flash and fluttery action, can't beat original non-twisted Flashabou.

Had a similar thought but still scratching my head over his first line.... "Good ?"

Flies - Alot of fly tyers use flash to give the impression of wings or other body parts that are see-through and not opaque. Can also use it as a shellback case to give a shiny look to a wing case on a bug pattern.

Jigs - I use either K.Flash or F.Bou in almost all of my baitfish jig patterns.

99.9 % of mine have flash..

Tails as well as the new age chenilles with the tinsels to me give more of a scale reflection..

Yeah it's great for shellback case's but ya gotta be real careful after tying off that you don't cut it too short - or you can have a mess
