Tie up your best and closest imatation to the minnow above. I started this today and have several designs. None of which I am fully satisfied with.

Be forewarned if I really like your pattern I will tie it and use it. I will not sell it as I don't commercially tie or sell any of my jigs.

Also I have been trying this pattern off and on for about two years. I have yet to come up with one I am totally satisfied with. Then I get the idea to tap the talent this site has.

Reason for this , I know of no more effective minnow , that is used as live bait in Ohio. Trouble is they are so sensitive baitdealers refuse to handle them locally. Now the VHS disease makes it illegal to transport these to other lakes.

Thought this might be a fun way to solve the problem. I am sure AF will be interested. He is still looking for a jig that will produce Lake Erie Jumbo perch.

By the way I also searched ties on the internet. I was not impressed with the attempts I saw.

Some hints for your attempts. Minnow is almost translucent. It is also very flashy as its scales fall off very easily. It has a longish narrow body. Personally I use a long shank jig hook to compensate for this.
Will post a couple of my attempts later. Don't want to pollute anyone purity of thought.

Emeralds and rainbow smelt are popular here in Maine, along with goldens. I need to put on my thinking cap...
