AWESOME!!! No other way to explain it, the last local mom and pop tackle shop had a card on the wall with a "doll fly" that looked just like what you posted, same color everything right down to the thread...AWESOME!!!
Yep I sure did buddy!!!! Course I had to pull the long hairs to get it to line up the way it does. I need to tie a bunch more. I really don't have alot of white jigs so figured I'd add some more.
How does it compare to tying with synthetics meant to emulate polar bear like polar fiber and other natural bear hair? I've gt a package of black bear, but I haven't tried it yet.
The one on the left is Scottish Highland Sheep and the one on the right is Real Polar Bear.
The Highland sheep is nice to tie with but it isn't full like the Polar Bear. Even pulling out some of the underfur (and yes I save it for tying flies) the real stuff is still thicker and fuller to tie with. The Scottish stuff is good for tying streamers but after I pull the long hairs for the polar I can do the same with it. Another thing I like is that the real stuff is more translucent if that's what you want to call it and the sheen is a lot better. The small pieces let me experiment while saving the large ones.
