Dirty little secrets

Just had our wettest week in recorded history. Coming after a record wet summer, so the earth can't absorb anymore water. All the rain becomes run off instantly.
Floods are covering an area something like the size of Europe. "My" trout river went from six feet to 27 feet in six hours. No wonder those Chinese gold miners died in flash floods in the 1800s.
And guess who's got a bit of time off work?
So there's been plenty of time to tie as the rain pelted down day after day. Thought I'd do some bladed jigs to, hopefully, be able to fish somewhere despite dirty, chocolate milk water in rivers and all the estuaries.
These are 1/16th belly spins (the blade and swivell come from Beetle Spins as can't get small blades here. Means nothing but I like the matching gold blade and swivel)

Tails are rabbit, painted in nail polish.
These next are tied on a local head, a TT Revhead. They are 1/8th:

It's a bugger to tie under the arm which holds the blade! Pink and black tails are bucktail, orange is Arctic Fox. NP paint. Black tail has some black and gold barred rubber legs too and pink tail some Sharpie stripes.
PS so many fantastic jigs displayed recently on JC, hard to keep up with the compliments!!!!!

Nice blade baits. I like the gold blades but they are expensive. Now I paint my own using the transparent gold powder paint.

Great looking jigs and finding small gold blades is bad enough but I agree they are expensive!!!!!! Hate to hear of your flooding, be safe!!!!!!!

My thoughts exactly!!! The TT heads look cool - if the arm extending back from the head that holds the swivel is made of lead, those would be WAY more correctly balanced than the horseheads.

Thanks guys. Never seen a belly spin til discovered JC! Squeaky, La Nina to blame for floods here and drought there; shows we are all connected! Feel sorry for the farmers _ lots of crops wiped out just before harvest. Heartbreaking.
Rondon yep the Revhead's arm is lead and yep they track beautifully and fall straight. The arm acts like a keel. Thought you guys might like the black and gold one, might appeal to your bass maybe

DUH!!! moment here!!! I thought that was a tied on swivel - and until Attica made his comment about the arm being lead I had to go back and look at it closer. That is really cool - Definately shows the differences between here and there in jig design.

Where we have Do-It for molds - are there any molds over there??? Could be a great trade for different molds if available.

Crikeys, that does look a bit tedious to tie under the blade arm. Looks like Oz is catching up to Seppoland and in fact forging ahead with that superb keel arm head. I suspect you're ahead of the pack with your jig ties - are any of your mates tying as well?

Hiya guys, blue skies here for the first time in months! Amazing how it lifts the spirits.
The TT Revheads now go between 1/8th and an once. The larger sizes have heavy duty hooks. Choice of willow or colorado blade, in either silver or gold, for all sizes. Here's a 1/8th Revhead with colorado blade.

Really your variety of head styles and sizes way way way overshadows Oz. The TT Revheads, the Squidgy resin heads and maybe another super deep water design called the elevator rig are the only ones I can think off the top of my head that are designed in Oz and are any different to what's available in the US. You guys are world HQ of jigheads! Damn I've imported heads from you. Air freighting lead! Idjeeot!
And as moaned about before, it's rather lonely being a jig tyer here:blush: Despite my efforts!!!!! I "know" one other tyer. One. And he's a Sandgroper (Western Australian).
It's all plastics plastics plastics here. At least it means I can source some jig heads. Before that, and Oz came late to the plastics party, jig heads were almost impossible to find.
Guys do melt lead for their plastics heads here. But they use Do-it molds!! No locally made molds at all.
Then again, because no one fishing hair/feather jigs I get to throw stuff at the local fishies they have never seen before. That can be rather good sometimes
Rad I've read about Texas drought in stories here on La Nina. Hope she breaks and you get your rains.
