I like that little pan at the bottom of the pot. I need one. Last monday, I about had a disaster. Tried to pour some, quickly, big mistake. I came in from work, plugged my pot in to warm up. I went inside to eat and change. While I was in, the top of the lead was still solid, but the bottom melted, dumping the lead all over my wood workbench. I came out and had melted lead all over my workbench. It was smoking, and about to catch fire.

I learned the hard way too... Now pan under during warm-up / cool down ;)

I used an old cookie sheet salvaged from a journey to the trash when the wifey upgraded.

It's has a 1" lip around it so catches any disasters before they happen.

I had the same problem with my old pot. I found an aluminum pot that fit under the spout upside down flush with the spout so it didn't drip at all. I finally bought a new pot so now I can send the old pot back for repairs. CH, if you are having carpal tunnel surgery a word of advice from someone who had both hands done. Don't open the refrigerator door with the hand that just had surgery. That will definitely get your attention.

I like the asprin heads as well and only have a few in my stash.

I know it would not be 100% pressed but....... couldn't you use a pill shaped slug to get the shape you want and then JB Weld a smaller slug centered into the area you originally pressed to make the recessed section? Thinking a steel rod wacked off and cleaned up the edges could create a decent pill shape.
