Looks like an excellent fly! For crappies, if you can find them i would imagine they would hit it. It may depend as much on the main food source in the particular lake.... bug lake vs. minnow lake. I have a small local reservoir that the only baitfish is young bass, bluegill & crappie. I have had years that the only way i could catch crappie was to use small (8-10) nymphs in drab/dark colors. Then a different larger lake i fish is loaded with shad - big flashy and sparkley jigs are the ticket..... when i can locate the fish in the first place that is.

At a size 6-2X long and tied with darker colors, those would hammer smallmouth in my river!

Any nymph you tie on a jig hook turn it upside down. Makes tying a little harder cause there's more chance to stick your finger but it makes it look more natural.

Good looking fly, nice work. It may work on crappie while the fish are spawning and late fall/winter. Most of our lakes the crappie feed more on shad but that will be a good one to try around run off creeks after a heavy rain.
